General Motors has offered Teen Driver technology in its vehicles. Teen Driver is a free, integrated system that asks young drivers to develop safe driving habits and generates a Parental Driving Report after a teen uses the family car, truck or SUV. According to the automaker, studies have shown that teenage drivers are more prone to making reckless driving decisions, such as not fastening their seat belts, speeding and listening to loud music, which leads to distracted driving. They mitigate these risk factors and allow parents to monitor their children's driving behaviors in order to teach and reinforce safe driving skills. Teen Driver offers several features to increase safety, starting with automatic mute of the stereo or other audio device until the driver fastens their seat belt. Use of the seat belt, the Buckle to Drive function prevents the driver from exiting the parking lot until it detects a fastened seat belt. If the driver presses the brake, the driver will hear an audible signal and display a message in the driver information display to remind him to fasten his seat belt. Parent involvement is an important part of the Teen Driver system. Parents can set the maximum volume of the stereo system to what they think is a reasonable level. And to keep their kids from speeding, parents can set a speed warning between 4075 mph. If the vehicle exceeds this speed, the system informs the teen driver to slow down via visual and audible warnings. Parents can also set the maximum vehicle speed to 85 mph. If your vehicle is equipped with active safety features or advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), Teen Driver will automatically enable these systems and disable the ability to disable them.Automotive Teen Driver Systems Market Scope
